Standard Chartered has announced the appointment of Diana Layfield as the new regional chief executive officer of Africa.
Layfield, whose appointment is effective from 22 June, succeeds Mike Hart who becomes vice chairman of Standard Chartered’s African operations.
In her new position she will be tasked with spearheading the brand and business of the firm in the continent.
Layfield is presently group head of Strategy and Corporate Development and has previously held the posts of Global Corporates group head and Wholesale Banking chief operating officer.
Hart has led the African franchise for the last five years, achieving record results and proactively participating in community projects throughout Africa.
Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas CEO V. Shankar stated that the appointments of Layfield and Hart would ensure the continued success of Standard Chartered in Africa.
